Men are so funny

I was on the phone with Alan and he was all like "I want to go to the NEX to buy a hot pad for my back."

I knew what he meant, but I just had to jibe him about it. "A hot pad, huh. Just in case you have to lie on a hot cookie sheet or something."

Of course I knew he meant heating pad, but I just thought it was so funny. This 29 year old man who is telling me he wants to go out and buy a hot pad for his back. I think he should get one of those ones with a chicken on it, or maybe a cow. That would be nice.

You know you are fat when...

You know you are fat when a three-year-old is chattering away to your own three-year-old son and you turn around to smile at him, and he suddenly says "You are fat!" Then when you blink and ask him what he said, he says "I love you!" You know he just said the latter so you wouldn't comment on the first. I chose to let it go, because let's face it - I am fat. Not that I think he needs to be blurting it out or anything. But I didn't make a big deal over it - this time.

It's not like it's the first time a small child has said that to me. They say what they see. I know that.

It's a Miracle!

I filled my gas tank for less than $38 today. HOLY COW!

It has been costing me around $60 for the last year. I was so happy and thrilled that gas didn't break the bank today. It will probably be cheaper later in the week, but that's OK. I'm happy to get it at $2.79 a gallon.

(Oct. 10) - Clara Meadmore, who celebrates her 105th birthday Saturday, says she knows the secret to a long life: no sex.
The retired secretary, who lives in a nursing home in Cornwall, southwestern Britain, says she is a virgin and has no regrets about it, according to reports in British newspapers.

Clara Meadmore celebrates her 105th birthday on Saturday. Among those wishing her well is Queen Elizabeth II, who sent the retired secretary a birthday card.
"I've always had lots of platonic friendships with men but never felt the need to go further than that or marry," The Telegraph quoted her as saying.
Meadmore said she had turned down several marriage proposals, but she made up her mind when she was 12 that she would never marry.
"People have asked whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no. I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
"I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things," she said. "When I was a girl you only had sex with your husband -- and I never married."
Meadmore was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1903 -– two years after the death of Queen Victoria. She remembers the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. When she was 7, her family moved first to Egypt, then to Canada and New Zealand. She returned to Britain when she was in her 20s and eventually settled in Cornwall, according to the newspaper reports.
"I grew up in an era where little girls were to be seen and not heard so I had to learn to stand up for myself and earn my own living," said Meadmore, who still has her own hair and teeth. "Some men don't like that in a woman and before long I was too old to marry anyway."
She plans to celebrate her 105th birthday with a party at the Perran Bay nursing home, where she lives in Perranporth, Cornwall. Queen Elizabeth II sent her a birthday card.
Meadmore said she would probably have a glass of wine to celebrate but not more. "I'm hardly likely to get drunk and do something silly at my age," she said.

My Ears

So, anybody following my ear difficulties might be interested in this. I had Vestibular Assessment with VNG (Videonystagmography) done last week. There were a few different parts of the test. Eleven parts to be exact. Nine of them came back within normal limits. Two of them came back abnormal. The "High-Frequency Head Shake Nystagmus Test" came back abnormal. There was a lot of technical terms and stuff I don't understand. But I have a 17 degree abnormality on the right ear there, whatever that means. The other test that came back abnormal is the one that baffled them. It's called the Bithermal Caloric Stimulation. Basically, they put a tube with a warm air flow in my ears and then a cool air flow. My left ear came back OK, but my right ear didn't react at all. Nothing. Zip. Nada. They said they have never seen that before. They put warm air in my right ear four times trying to make sure it wasn't a technical error. Nope. Just my broken ear. They said there was no caloric weakness, but I have a 100% left directional preponderance. The guy explained it to me saying that in balance and motion, everything moves to the left for me and my right ear doesn't contribute to my balance. I can see how that would send me into stints of vertigo, lol. So I have a 100% abnormality in my right ear. What can I say, I'm an abnormal kind of gal. I have to wait for the ENT to review the report before I know what comes next.

The report I was sent from the place of my test said my results *could support my ENT's hypothesis of Meniere's Disease. We shall see.

My AOL Blog

Is now a part of Blogger. E-mail me for the address. :-) It seems to all be there. All four years of it. I'm so sad I had to move it, but I'm thrilled that I have all the memories so I can print at my leisure! I should have made it private, but I forgot to do it before I published it. If some of the transferred videos don't work, it's because I disabled them on purpose. :-)
